NVIDIA Corp (NASDAQ:NVDA) shares are falling in early trading Tuesday following a report suggesting Amazon.com Inc (NASDAQ:AMZN) halted orders of the company’s “superchip” in order to wait for updated models.

The new model called Blackwell, the chip sector heavyweight's new flagship AI processor, is expected to ship later this year, Nvidia said in March. Amazon Web Services, the world's largest cloud services firm,

Amazon.com's cloud services unit said on Tuesday that it has not halted any orders of Nvidia's most advanced chip on the market, but has instead decided to purchase the company's newer state of the art chip for an upcoming supercomputer project between the companies.

Months after Nvidia unveiled the next-generation version of its highly sought-after superchip, one of its largest customers is already swapping out its order for the powerful new successor.
